Selfish, greedy, compulsive, attention-craving, these terms are all synonymous with Generation Y. Who takes the blame for the negative portion of Gen Y’s characteristics? Certainly not anyone from Gen Y.
I have a problem with this. A phrase in this video proclaims, “Its confusing, but it’s the future. Deal with it.”
When was the last time you met someone that liked to be told what to do? Or someone who liked to be told the phrase, “deal with it”.
Sure I believe there is a huge generational gap that we’re dealing with in the workplace and at our schools, but I absolutely don’t believe that it will be up to other generations to fix the problem.
Consider the following: What generation has had more available to them? What generation has had more means and knowledge of communication? Do you think that we’re still too young to make a difference? Apparently you haven’t heard of Gloson or any of the “top 100 world’s youngest bloggers“.
Let’s be honest with ourselves here, we’re going to need to cooperation of all generations on this one. We’re going to need dedicated people who want to make a change. Most importantly, we’re going to need Gen Y to quit complaining and use their heralded multitasking skills to make a difference.
